The death penalty undoubtedly is an inhumane and unconstitutional method of punishing people. One major reason for this is there is no guarantee the process will go well. If a mistake is made instead of being put through a quick and painless death the person could go through a very painful death. unless there is a absolute guarantee the lethal injection will not cause any pain, lethal injections should be considered cruel and unusual punishment and not be legal.

Also, after performing the death penalty there is no turning back. If you put someone to death and then years later find out they were not guilty you can't reverse that, but if you sentence someone to life in prison you can let them go free if they are later found not guilty. A recent example of this is the case of Timothy Masters of Colorado. He was just set free after about a decade of being jail for a crime that new DNA evidence shows he did not commit. If he had been sentenced to death he would not be alive today.

If we say killing someone is an offense that deserves the death penalty, then we kill them, are we any better than the killer?I
